Life-size

If you are in Vienna in the next couple of weeks you should go to the Museumsquartier and look at a cool exhibition they have going. net.culture.space is doing an installation where you can enter the world of Second Life and move an avatar through it watching it on an approx. 4m X 5m wall in 3D.

The initiators said that it is especially good for people who don’t have the technical expertise or possibilities to try Second Life themselves. I think it is also great for those who have been meaning to try Second Life but who haven’t had time to do so yet.

I think that virtual worlds do harbor great potential. So far I have not been a Second Life user myself, but I enjoyed the installation. I think I’ll give it a shot now - I’ll let you know how I go.

Here are the details for the exhibition:

The Second Life Experience

* 10.08.07 / 7.00 pm: Opening night and guided tour through Second Life (we missed that one already)
* 28.08.07 / 7.00 pm: Guided tour through Second Life (this one looks awesome! An architect and a cultural theorist are your tour guides. Anybody wanna go and give me / us a review?)

Where:  net.culture.space
quartier21/MQ (transeuropa),
Museumsplatz 1, 1070 Vienna

Open daily from 10.00 pm – 8.00 pm, entry is free!

Have a look and let me know how you liked it!

P.S. I’ll be on a plane for the next couple of days and then I’m moving house, so I won’t be posting again until next week. Cheerio until then!
