Still growing!

I have just been back to the Satay Kingdom Appreciation Group on Facebook to see what is happening over there (click here to visit it if you have a Facebook account), and I am impressed: it keeps growing at a staggering rate! At the moment it has 545 members (compared to 423 a couple of weeks ago).

So does Facebook itself. According to the company, the platform has got 150,000 new registrations per day, which translates into 1 Million a week since January. The biggest growth is with users over 25 (which is good news for businesses!) and there are over 47,000 groups on Facebook. For more numbers, see Jeremiah Owyang’s post.

I am working on finding out the regional growth of Facebook, as this is still very important for business use. Even though the magic of Social Media allows us to do business almost anywhere, it is still important to know where our peers are, especially for small businesses like Satay Kingdom, who provide a service in a certain region. Though it is nice if expats in, let’s say, Beirut appreciate Satay Kingdom in Wellington, it is important for the restaurant to be able to leverage the data from their actual present customers. I’m thinking favourite dishes here, or the opinions to the 50 cents price increase. If Satay Kingdom actually did leverage that. Now that I’m back in Wellington I think I might go over there to find out if they have any knowledge at all about their Facebook fanbase. And if they intend to do something about it. I will keep you posted of course.
