Going, going, gone!

As many of my regular readers will know, I am moving to Europe tomorrow. I am very excited!
I wanted to express my gratitude for my time in New Zealand, the people I have met, the friends and family I have made, the experiences I have had. And I want to reassure you that I am [...]

Workshop review, and some organizational blogging 101 tips

Last week I hosted a workshop about Social Media in the Public Sector. My workshops are not your normal “I am talking – you are listening” gigs (I can’t stand those, that’s why); instead I take the “dinner party” approach: we all sit around a table and have a lively discussion, sans loads of scruptous [...]

New name AND a new CEO!

Exciting developments are happening on the big project I am working on (working title: filmbooster, co-funded by a departure grant). Things are progressing towards the kick-off of the research and construction phase starting mid-March, and we are doing very well. Our team is growing, and we are setting up all the mechanisms to work together [...]

Registrations to the Social Media Seminar for Public Communicators on 20 & 21 February 2008 in Wellington, NZ are exceeding room capacity. The Network of Public Sector Communicators and me are therefore offering a second slot for those of you who want to come but have no seat!
We are offering the same seminar on the [...]

Do we have a deal?

Breaking news this afternoon: the WGA strike may be ending soon. An LA radio station is reporting that there is a preliminary agreement between the guild and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers. You can read some more details here.
However, as of this hour there is no official deal just yet… I will [...]

Twitter – probably not for crisis communication after all (or just yet)

Though the use of Social applications is very important in emergencies and crisis, one singular tool should not be relied upon in that event. Especially not Twitter.
Twitter has been struggling with outages a lot recently. I am not an avid Twitter user, but it is a very useful tool to stay in touch with your [...]
