Facebook growing (still, and in new places)

Facebook is still growing. Numbers show that though the growth has slowed down in North America, South America is growing like crazy: 34.9 % in the last 4 weeks!

I wanna know if this growth is happening in a Spanish / Portuguese version or in the English version of the network. Anybody got more info on that?

What I find interesting is that the use of applications seems to be declining. Facebook is more about the socializing, which is the real value of a Social Network… the networking. Funny that!

Sadly it is becoming more and more a mass spamming and marketing tool – as MySpace did. Though this is hardly surprising, but I’m deeply sick of having just crap in my inbox. There is a little of the social of the social network. It’s nearly as bad as having old high-school friends track you down – yes, that is right. I have no interest in the finer details of your current social life. The most interesting, and as a journalist one of the more handier aspects, is the way record labels, movie and theatre makers etc are using the site for promotion and what not.
