British food: yum-my! http://blog.loudhail.com/2009/04/20/british-food-yum-my/ http://blog.loudhail.com/2009/04/20/british-food-yum-my/#comments Mon, 20 Apr 2009 13:08:32 +0000 loudhail http://blog.loudhail.com/?p=195 I love British food. Britain is Nirvana cuisine-wise to me. To me, traditional British fare is Indian, followed by Chinese, chased by scruptous breakfast (full cooked English Breakfast with bangers and hash browns as well as my all-time favourite Porridge), meat and three veggie dinners, and of course fish’n'chips (or fush’n'chups, as we Kiwis say). Yum-my! Can’t wait to move there to significantly increase my intake of Indian food.

Good thing for me then that apparantly 26% of Britons know how to make a curry by heart, without consulting a recipe book or nana. Roast dinner also ranks real high, with 54% of people knowing how to assemble that from scratch without help. I will be moving in a few weeks, so my British friends (and friends and family to be): stock up on groceries, get out your best china, and make me dinner! I will bring the Austrian (and New Zealand) wine.

You are not from Brighton http://blog.loudhail.com/2009/03/25/you-are-not-from-brighton/ http://blog.loudhail.com/2009/03/25/you-are-not-from-brighton/#comments Wed, 25 Mar 2009 12:09:17 +0000 loudhail http://blog.loudhail.com/?p=192 is another fun song by Fatboy Slim. I am not from Brighton either, but I will be living there from May! Yay! Sun, beaches, palmtrees, cafes, Wellington feel – but all within 52 minute reach of London. Far out!

Not that I won’t be coming to Vienna any more, we have a business there, and I also hold lectures at a couple of universities. But there is heaps to do for me in the UK, so it makes perfect sense to be there. Also, I get to speak English most of the time, eat heaps of local fare (Indian food) and enjoy the company of new and beautiful people. Also, I’ll have lots of visitors by the looks of it.

That’s pretty good! http://blog.loudhail.com/2009/02/23/thats-pretty-good/ http://blog.loudhail.com/2009/02/23/thats-pretty-good/#comments Mon, 23 Feb 2009 14:33:45 +0000 loudhail http://blog.loudhail.com/?p=188 So this whole blackout thing seems to have had a positive effect. Apparantly the law has been delayed… and if there is no resolution until 27 March, it will not take effect at all.

Cheers to everybody who supported this!

FilmTiki is live! http://blog.loudhail.com/2009/01/26/filmtiki-is-live/ http://blog.loudhail.com/2009/01/26/filmtiki-is-live/#comments Mon, 26 Jan 2009 16:36:25 +0000 loudhail http://blog.loudhail.com/?p=184 Finally… the fruit of our labour can be seen on www.filmtiki.com! We just went live today. I am very humbled and grateful for this.

If you don’t know what I’m talking about: the last 9 months I have been working pretty much day and night on the development of my brainchild FilmTiki – a platform for filmmakers to give them strategic advice on how to best market and promote their films. It has been an intense time, and I am very much looking forward to the weeks ahead when we get to talk to people and work with feedback and get it out there. My favourite part!

We are giving away free 1-year-subscriptions for a year – so go on and check it out, and tell me what you think!

I tried to say NO to stencils but they were bigger than me http://blog.loudhail.com/2009/01/06/i-tried-to-say-no-to-stencils-but-they-were-bigger-than-me/ http://blog.loudhail.com/2009/01/06/i-tried-to-say-no-to-stencils-but-they-were-bigger-than-me/#comments Tue, 06 Jan 2009 08:53:48 +0000 loudhail http://blog.loudhail.com/?p=182 I love stencils. I have a stencil by a Wellington stencil artist working under the cloak of “YEAH… NAH” in my parents basement (orange spray paint on brown coloured wood). It’s sitting there until such a time when I decide to move into a place for longer than 2 months again (along with all my other belongings… ready to be shipped wherever that new place might be).

Anywho, I just came back from lovely Edinburgh where I spent Hogmanay – such a brilliant party week! Lots of dancing, lots of whisky, lots of fun. I bought this awesome Banksy book (if you don’t know Banksy, tststs… check out his stuff at www.banksy.co.uk) and it had a good quote. Now, I don’t do new years resolutions, but this quote inspired me to my new routine of not getting up at 5.45 am every day: “People who get up early in the morning cause war, death and famine”. Now, I’m sure that late risers aren’t automatically better people, but I feel more comfortable now in every way sleeping till at least 7.30 am, which is really late to me.

Only in Aotearoa http://blog.loudhail.com/2008/11/03/only-in-aotearoa/ http://blog.loudhail.com/2008/11/03/only-in-aotearoa/#comments Mon, 03 Nov 2008 18:13:00 +0000 loudhail http://blog.loudhail.com/?p=173 Well, probably not. Still, this is freakin hilarious! Apparently, everybody’s favourite New Zealand pizza chain Hell’s Pizza had an ad going that had Sir Edmund Hilary, Heath Ledger and the Queen Mother dancing to Michael Jackson’s thriller. They caused offense, so the pulled the ad off the air.

I have a theory on who they were most offended over… but what’s your guess? I’ll let you know my idea shortly.

Disclaimer: New Zealand is one of the places I call home and love dearly. Just in case anyone wants to know…

UPDATE: my guess: Sir Edmund Hilary. Obviously.

Facebook revamped http://blog.loudhail.com/2008/08/10/facebook-revamped/ http://blog.loudhail.com/2008/08/10/facebook-revamped/#comments Sun, 10 Aug 2008 14:12:31 +0000 loudhail http://blog.loudhail.com/2008/08/10/facebook-revamped/ Have you seen the new Facebook interface? Do you like it?

I kinda do, but I am not sure that it is as useful as it can be… it is certainly cleaner.

What do you think? Curious to know if you are gonna stick with the new one or return to the old one (while you still can)…  Share your thoughts in the comments!
