For so many reasons: he is a chameleon (much like moi), he has kick-ass as well as hilarious outfits, he makes awesome music (and he’s been doing it for ever), he is Charlie Hero’s and Karim Amir’s hero (and I love Karim Amir – he is my favourite Hanif Kureishi character by a long shot), and he wrote Ground Control to Major Tom, which was an important song to me when I was about 4 years old, because back then I wanted to be an astronomer (or an opera singer. A male opera singer – otherwise I couldn’t be Papageno).

Anyway, David Bowie: I will get to play with another one of his awesome songs, and you can play, too: Space Oddity is being re-released in remixable tracks to commemorate the 40-year moonlanding anniversary (has it only been 40 years? Seems more like 60 to me…). Coming out July 20th.

In NYC http://blog.loudhail.com/2008/09/14/in-nyc/ http://blog.loudhail.com/2008/09/14/in-nyc/#comments Sun, 14 Sep 2008 14:51:03 +0000 loudhail http://blog.loudhail.com/2008/09/14/in-nyc/ So, I am in New York for the next few days. It is hot and steamy here, and I can’t wait to actually get into a museum, where it’s nice and airconditioned. I think I will do the Metropolitan Museum of Art today. And then go and read in the park. Because yesterday, as I was sifting through Guerilla Marketing books at Barnes & Noble, I had the bright idea to buy a book I read over 10 years ago: The Buddha of Suburbia. I love Hanif Kureishi, I actually wanted to buy The Black Album again, but they only had Buddha. Oh well, will have to re-read Black Album next.

Will take some pictures and post them here or on Facebook.

Enjoy your Sunday, wherever you are!
