I read this hilarious piece about senators in the US (mis)using Twitter for their feuds.

I sincerely think that Twitter is a great communication tool, that could be highly useful for public sector communicators. If you are a public servant, and you are using or want to use Twitter, read the above mentioned article as a good example on what not to do.

The ups and downs of Twitter http://blog.loudhail.com/2008/06/08/the-ups-and-downs-of-twitter/ http://blog.loudhail.com/2008/06/08/the-ups-and-downs-of-twitter/#comments Sun, 08 Jun 2008 06:54:28 +0000 loudhail http://blog.loudhail.com/2008/06/08/the-ups-and-downs-of-twitter/ If you are a Twitterer, you will know that the service is not very stable. It is alright most of the time, but for some bizarre reason it is ALWAYS down when I really feel like sharing something, or when I need to send a direct message to someone.

It has been suggested many times that Twitter is a useful tool for crisis communication, and indeed – during many natural disasters like Tsunamis and earthquakes Twitter works quite well. However, if the service is that unstable, it is still not recommendable if you are stuck in a seriously dire situation. Or if you have something to communicate that actually needs to reach someone for sure. For all other things, it is really useful – I am quite getting into it.

If you want to know what I am up to at any given point in time (provided Twitter lets me twitter it), just follow me.
